President Vladimir Putin submitted Krasnov’s candidacy for the Federation Council on Monday. Krasnov, 44, lieutenant general of justice, in his capacity as deputy head of the commission of inquiry, supervised the main directorate of special investigations and the main investigative department.

Krasnov has held various positions in prosecutors’ offices since 1997. In 2007, when the investigation committee was formed, he transferred to the IC, where he started as a special investigator under the chairmanship of the president of the IC to end up at the headquarters of the deputy of the IC. president in April 2016. Krasnov investigated criminal cases such as the attempted assassination against Anatoly Chubais, the murder of Boris Nemtsov, lawyer Stainslav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova and the embezzlement of funds at the construction site of the Vostochny spaceport.

According to the Constitution, the appointment and dismissal of the Attorney General and his deputies fall within the competence of the Federation Council.
