Federation Council awards contracts for playground, sales park and skatepark projects in Corowa and Mulwala | Border mail

news, local news,

A NEW $ 1.82 million all-skill playground will be built on the shore of Mulwala Lake after being approved by the Federation Council. It was one of three big projects proposed by the county at Tuesday’s meeting. The others are a $ 431,926 upgrade from Corowa sales and a $ 327,560 extension to the Corowa skate park. It was decided not to launch a call for tenders for the construction of an aquatic center and jetty at Urana, as the quotes for those seeking to undertake the work exceeded the budget by $ 939,000. Instead, it was proposed that the council enter into contract discussions with the Kennedy builders of Mulwala and that the issue be brought up at next month’s county meeting. The tender for the Muwala Purtle Park playground was issued to East Albury Enviro Culture Services, which developed playgrounds across the border. Despite a shortfall of $ 775,000 out of the overall cost of $ 1.82 million, the advisers chose to engage in all three stages of the long playing field mentioned. They plan to close the gap through measures such as internal revenue, borrowing or grants, with a request for $ 560,000 from the NSW government. Focus Engineering from Corowa was awarded the contract for the redevelopment of the sales areas. They will install overhead walkways and build 29 concrete enclosures, measures to strengthen occupational health and safety and animal welfare. Haley Constructions, a company involved in the skateparks of Wodonga, Benalla and Cobram, won the tender for the equivalent of Corowa.
