Qatar Chamber selected as member of the Council of the World Federation of Chambers


The Qatar Chamber has been selected as a member of the General Council of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (ICC) of the International Chamber of Commerce (WCF), a statement said on Monday.

Qatar Chamber board member and ICC secretary general in Qatar, Dr Khalid bin Klefeekh al-Hajri, will represent the chamber on the 32-member council.
The chamber said: “Joining the WCF ensures the confidence of the international business community in the vital role played by the Qatar Chamber in the field of international trade, especially as the WCF seeks to strengthen the ties between member chambers. to help them become more productive. “
“This achievement is the culmination of efforts led by the Speaker of the House of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani to activate the role of the House of Qatar at the international level.”
The Qatar Chamber has succeeded in playing an important role in promoting trade among other countries through the Global Trade Agenda initiative launched in cooperation with the ICC in 2012.
The WTO helps governments identify key priority areas for inclusive trade. It aims to stimulate the global economy by helping to advance multilateral trade negotiations.
The Qatar Chamber also played a key role in approving the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) signed at the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference held in Bali in 2014.
TFA has played an important role in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) between countries with the aim of ensuring global security and stability, as SMEs represent 90% of the economies of countries around the world. said the chamber.
