The government is preparing to grant a tax holiday, others to startups

Communications and Digital Economy Minister Isa Pantami revealed that the federal government plans to offer incentives such as grants, fiscal and fiscal incentives, startup labeling, seed funding and exemptions taxes as part of its attempt to offer support to startups in the campaign.

According to him, the National Startup Bill, the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the National Policy for the Development of Indigenous Content in the Telecommunications Sector, among others, are examples of the government’s commitment to adopt and implement policies that enable the ecosystem.

Pantami said, “The importance of a vibrant and functioning innovation ecosystem cannot be overstated, and that is why we have taken deliberate steps to specifically organize this interactive session, to address some relevant issues.

“First, how to consolidate our ecosystem, second, understand the market and its challenges, third, map our market and set objectives, strengthen our networking strategies and, most importantly, collaborate and partner with the government.

This is key to the success of our ecosystem, as government has a major role to play in creating the enabling environment.

He added that the presidency is ready to ensure the proper execution of the starter bill.

According to the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Inuwa Abdullahi, the agency has developed a program to identify talented startups and place them in developed centers for training and incubation.

He said: “We have developed a program called the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Program. This is a program designed to identify talented young startups with ideas, place them in developed centers for training and incubation and at the end we have what we call seed vouchers that we give them that will help them as seed funding to develop their products and services.”
