Bank worker embezzled more than $47,000 from credit union, police say
A woman faces charges Tuesday of embezzling funds from the bank where she worked in Winston-Salem, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department. Police began investigating Barbara Clinkscales-Stowe, 55, in August after receiving an embezzlement report from the Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union. The bank reported that Clinkscales-Stowe misappropriated money from members’ accounts. She was a credit union employee for 28 years. During an investigation, detectives found she stole more than $47,000 from members six years ago in 2017. Clinkscales-Stowe turned herself in on Monday. She was charged with six counts of embezzlement and posted $5,000 bond.
